The Sands Trio
Tribute to the Rat Pack
John Morello as Dean Martin - Christopher Hayles as Sammy Davis, Jr. - Rick Sonata as Frank Sinatra.
When three tribute artists, in a Las Vegas-style dinner show take over the stage, then suddenly one is back in the 60s on the Las Vegas strip, and remembering 'OCEANS 11'. Their interpretation of these three great entertainers is so life-like, that one has to really look twice to make sure one is not dreaming.
Make no mistake about it! By the time these performers exit the stage, their audience is standing and demanding an encore. The chemistry of these artists is extremely contagious.
The true essence of "The Sands Trio" is that pure energy and spontaneity of their performance. These guys don't put it on, they bring it out. They are the real deal with that crazy cuckoo style. They are ready to bring down the house.
As each perform of The Sands Trio comes back to take center stage, the audience waits in anticipation. Leaving their heart in San Francisco, playing with “Sam’s Song” or dancing to “Me and My Shadow” these entertainers show a rare camaraderie as they toss one liners back and forth, filling their glasses with that special bourbon.

Aaron Prociuk
Johnny Cash Tribute
Prociuk, who played harmonica and guitar for another Cash tribute act before striking out on his own 12 months ago, spends a good chunk of time in front of the mirror every morning, styling his hair into a full-on pompadour.
"I get a few people at school asking me what's up with my do," says the University of Winnipeg education student. "When I tell them I'm a Johnny Cash impersonator they're usually like, 'Oh, really?'"
It's been a full decade since Cash died in 2003 at the age of 71. But the 13-time Grammy Award-winner remains as popular as ever. Maybe more so. This year, two new Cash albums hit the charts - one, a rarities package called LIFE Unheard; the other, a set of duets he recorded with his old chum, Willie Nelson called Every Song Tells a Story.
Also, an exhibit of photographs entitled Johnny Cash: We Are All Men in Black was a huge draw this summer, when it toured through art galleries in Italy.
Thirdly, on April 30, two months after the U.S. Postal Service issued a stamp in Cash's honour, the long-awaited Johnny Cash Museum opened in Nashville. Displays range from depictions of his boyhood home in Arkansas, his career outside of music -- who can forget Cash's starring turn on the detective series Colombo? -- and his 35-year marriage to June Carter. Last month, National Geographic magazine ranked the Johnny Cash Museum tops in a run-down of the best museums in the world that showcase a particular artist or group. (The ABBA Museum in Stockholm had to settle for second place.)
Stu Reid is the host of Twang Trust, a radio program on CKUW devoted to "country, roots and big, dumb rock 'n' roll." Cash is a patron saint of Reid's show; nary a week goes by when his presence isn't felt in some way, shape or form, Reid says.
"I might not play (Cash) but I'll play a cover - or I'll play someone who's been heavily influenced by him. I love that he's become an icon to anyone who loves music - be it country, punk or whatever."
One of Reid's greatest regrets in life is not seeing Cash perform live. Not that the opportunity didn't present itself.
"I used to work for a screen-printing shop that got the gig to print hats and shirts for a late '80s Canadian tour," Reid says. "Everyone was offered free tickets to the show at the Playhouse Theatre. Even though I was starting to get into country music at the time, I thought of Cash as kind of washed up, so I didn't go. The next day our sales guy came in raving about the concert -- and how cool it was to go backstage and meet Johnny."
Reid has a bone to pick with anybody who says they dislike country music but love Johnny Cash.
"I dearly want to kick them in the (rear). If you have a T-shirt with a picture of Johnny Cash flipping the bird - but you don't own records by Merle Haggard and George Jones - then you clearly have no idea why Johnny Cash was great."
Apparel bearing the famous image Reid refers to are perennial top-sellers at Wild Planet, a clothing and music emporium located at 237 Osborne St.
At any one time, owner Roman Panchynshyn has over 40 different Cash T-shirts, hoodies and tuques in stock. (No, they don't just come in black.)
"Johnny Cash is still super-popular; it's almost like he's become an industry unto himself," Panchynshyn says, noting people who come in looking for Cash paraphernalia range in age from 10 to 80. "He crossed so many genres. Take for instance when he came out with his American Recordings series in the '90s, and began covering bands like Nine Inch Nails. Suddenly, he opened himself up to an even wider audience."
Back at the legion, Prociuk is ripping through A Boy Named Sue, the only Cash tune to reach No. 1 on the pop charts.
Prociuk and his band have close to 50 songs in their repertoire -- classics like Hey Porter to gospel-tinged tunes like I Was There When it Happened. That's impressive, considering the lead singer knew little to nothing of Cash until he saw Walk the Line, the bio-flick starring Joaquin Phoenix, about five years ago.
"A lot of times people come up to me after the show or between sets and say I look too young to be singing this kind of stuff," says Prociuk. "But to be completely honest I don't care for the music they play on the radio today. I'd much rather be singing the old stuff."
For now, the A.R. Cash Show is a part-time gig for the future grade school teacher. But even when Prociuk lands a job in a classroom somewhere down the road, he doesn't foresee a day when he'll hang up his six-string. Or park his gel.
"The kids might ask about my hair but no, I imagine I'll still be out there whenever I can, singing Ring of Fire."

As the popularity of the show grew, and with the increased demand for Johnny Cash music as a result of the "Walk the Line” movie in 2005, Gary started touring across Canada, sometimes with the band, sometimes as a featured solo act, and sometimes as a part of his larger package show that included other tribute artists.
As of 2011, his “The Life and Times of Johnny Cash” show is appearing regularly in Theaters, Casinos, Arenas, etc. across the country, as well as at fairs, rodeos, and other music festivals whenever time permits. With over 600 performances, it has become the longest running Johnny Cash Tribute show in Canada, and is executed with such realism that it has engendered such comments as “he is playing Johnny’s songs and just lip-synching”, and “I never got to see Johnny in person, but now I feel I have”.

Stacey James is a Canadian singer/songwriter whose love for music started at a very young age. First putting pen to paper at the age of 7, Stacey's short stories and poetry quickly evolved into songs. By 14, Stacey was performing within the local music scene and has not stopped. Over the years, Stacey has written with artists throughout North America and Europe including Marianna Zappi (X Factor UK) of England and John Robinson of Germany while sharing the stage as opening act with the likes of Classified, Souls Of Mischief, MastaAce and Awol 1 among many others. Along with her love of music & the arts overall, Stacey is passionate about helping & motivating others including with her upcoming children’s book series “Dealing With Feelings”. She is also the founder and organizer of the annual “Women Helping Women” event; assisting local resources whom help victims of domestic abuse. Stacey has had the opportunity to be published several times with Huffington Post at the initial request of Ariana Huffington herself. Alongside her creative endeavors, Stacey works with people every day to help them identify their true essence and assists them in becoming more aware of their presence. In turn, it leads others to find happiness, their life purpose, learn self-love & acceptance while being able to embrace past hurts in order to let them go once they’ve begun the transformational process. She does this through public speaking, online presence and one on one works.

Hitch a lift with Thousand Dollar Truck and crank the tunes, they will make the journey fun, groovy, and maybe a little unpredictable.

Testimonials
Deep and Powerful
"When I get up on stage with Claire, I never know exactly what to expect and that's one of the most exciting places to be as a musician. She brings her emotions into her playing, and no song is ever the same twice. Her slow songs are deep and powerful, and her faster up-tempo songs are as funky as it gets! I've seen Claire develop as a player and songwriter immensely in just the short time that I've known her. She has a vision of where she wants to be, and I know she's determined to get there and not let anything or anyone stand in her way."
- Sky O

Tracy K
Blues harmonica diva
In a business where safety nets are non existent and successful female harmonica players are a rarity, you have to admire the plucky and positive spirit of Tracy K. She’s a terrific entertainer with a committed sense of purpose. Through shear determination and talent she has indelibly stamped her versatility on the Canadian blues/roots scene with her singing, songwriting, and playing that little tin biscuit which has become her trademark asset. She’s a gifted award-winning writer whose broad catalogue includes songs for a Hollywood movie, for CBC's "Canada Reads, Ontario Rocks", and themed originals for festival workshops.
Tracy K immerses herself into the audience at every live show, with fiery passion and an engaging energy that sets her apart as a performer. She’s shared stages with today's 'A-list' international blues performers and hires first rate players who give her music the professional edge. Among her personal reinventions is her contemporary blues band, wherein Tracy K kicks it up a notch with amplified harp and tests the limits of her throaty rasp inspired by vocal benchmarks Bonnie Raitt and Koko Taylor. Her acoustic Blues Duo with partner Jamie “Snakeman” Steinhoff reflects some of Tracy's fondest musical influences. Jamie's mastery on acoustic, dobro and lap steel guitars derives from his well-informed history of early blues and folk. 'Snakeman's Canned Heat Salsa' and 'Tracy K's Stolen Apple Jelly' sold at their shows create the homey vibe that you'd find at Chicago's legendary Maxwell Street Market back in the day. With their five-star rated album "Canned Heat" they tour house concerts and soft seaters, and have opened for Ramblin' Jack Elliot and shared a double bill with John Sebastian. Tracy K’s rarer forays into jazz range from single guitar accompaniment to a Billie Holiday tribute given the most lavish treatment with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.
Tracy K has always been sought out for her harmonizing skills over the years for live work and sessions, recently recording harmonies on a project at Ardent Studios in Memphis in early 2015. In the late 1980s Tracy K worked as a live and session vocalist in Toronto. Years later she would be included to perform at the Toronto Blues Society's Harmonica Workshop and their prestigious Women's Blues Revue. Tracy K's gig history lists blues, jazz and folk festivals, concerts, various tributes, fundraisers and women-in-blues events. Her touring map spans Canada into North Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana to Tennessee and Mississippi, and as far south as the Caribbean. Tracy K has been booked multiple times by many events including the Winnipeg Jazz Fest, Saskatchewan Mid-Winter Blues Fest, Live from the Rock Fest, Red Rock, Ontario (headlining in 2014), Thunder Bay Blues Fest, Greatwoods Music Fest in Manitoba and the Winnipeg BBQ & Bluesfest. She’s opened for blues legend James Cotton and shared a playbill (and photo) with Koko Taylor.
Tracy K was unknown to locals at the inaugural Thunder Bay Blues Festival. An instant hit with her crowd-pleasing manner she was back for an encore in 2003. She moved to Thunder Bay in 2004 positively impacting the local music community over the coming years. She created and hosted a weekly Sunday Night Blues Jam at the local Legion where she was dubbed by fans as 'Tracy K Jr.' whenever she sat in on drums! Twice she won regional competitions to represent Thunder Bay at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee, as a band and then as a duo. In 2015 Tracy returned to Memphis as one of the judges. 2014 also saw Tracy K included by invite on Ruf Records 'Harmonica Ladies' compilation album and on the globally popular Mary4Music's "Keeping the Blues Alive: Volume Six". She has now moved back to Manitoba and it’s renown music scene where she is recording her next release. Not bad for a musician doubling as mom to three kids - now an empty nester, time has come for this undeniable musician to soar herself.

Paul Plouffe
groove musician, multi-instrumentalist
Paul Edward Plouffe is a groove musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Paul founded and performed with several bands in the early 70's and 80's including jazz-fusion groups Majek and The Paul Edward Lines Band. In 1982, Paul retired from the music scene to pursue more traditional familial avenues of existence. He never quit playing though he certainly stayed under the radar. Through the turn of the last century he hosted a monthly event called the Margaret P. Saxton Coffee House. In 2009 he re-emerged into the local music scene with a new repertoire of blues, funk, soul and R&B originals that pay tribute to the excitement and positive energy of the days when Motown and Philly Soul ruled the airwaves. Since then he has expanded his repertoire to include over 100 hit songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. His solo performances range from simple vocals, guitar and a lot of foot stomping to the integration of his "electronic" back-up band consisting of pre-recorded background tracks (unlike most artists who use downloaded backing tracks, Paul actually plays all the instruments and produces all the tracks he uses). He also has some great stories about the artists he covers.
Praise for Paul Plouffe
"Paul was wonderful and really added to the night for the Home Opener! I will definitely be in touch if we plan to have a band/performer at a game in the future as well as if we are looking for any of the other services you offer."
- Erin Petreny, Winnipeg ICE

Not to mention the O’Jays and Jackie Wilson, with a splash of Ricky Martin and The Rascals, along with an original or two.
Composed of Paul Plouffe on vocals, guitar, and keyboard; Craig Oliphant on vocals and ukulele; Glenn Zaretski on vocals and guitar; Scott Komus on vocals and trumpet and Henry Zacharias on percussion, they are dedicated to groovin’ the beat and movin’ your feet. Carlos Carumba has been bringing joy, peace and a little heat to events from Arborg to Fort Francis and are ready to spice up your next event as well.
Tune Raiders
Music from the 50s, 60s & 70s
Smokebox
50s, 60s, 70s, bluegrass, blues
For starters, I'm in a very great 50's, 60's, 70's cover band named "Smokebox" with top notch players and an amazing young female singer who can really belt her vocals.
I also have a new bluegrass project that has been fun - we've taken 16 1980's pop hits and redone them as bluegrass and have CD's and Merchandise. The album is called "A Tease Done Bluegrass" and many people are entertained when we perform - especially the slightly older folks and the younger adults as well.
I also am able to do accurate impressions and tributes of a number of artists - namely Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and Willie Nelson to name a few and can put together tribute bands at moments notice with top players I have good working relationships with (Gilles Fournier, Paul Hampton, Kent Macrae, Jeremy Rusu, Julian Bradford, Curtis Nowasad, Mark Arnault, Patti Lamoureux, Sky Onosson, the list goes on and on).
I also have an original songs show with a band or solo. This is what I do the most often. I have 14 albums out and tour a few times a year.
I've performed corporate events with my guitar doing instrumentals of well known classic hit songs and gone over really well. I play a few different shows - a blues show, bluegrass show and a rockin’ party show.

Thistle Tyme
Celtic, Folk
We have variously been described as The Pig and THISTLE show marking the 80 TV show The pig and Whistle' As Manitoba's favorite Show band and on one occasion as Canada's favorite etc.
We are a quad of four experienced mature musicians and the act plays up to 14 instruments on occasion offering hand clapping, sing along materials while throwing in some comedy.
We have a sound bite that was prepared in a basement studio to emulate our ambient sound with no added tricks such as Vocorders or Helicons to enhance our work.
Rollin Penner
folk, country, alternative, jazz
Rollin Penner, who is well known for his six year stint as the voice from Annie’s Café on the CBC Radio’s ‘The View From Greenfield” now puts his comedic talents to work to bring live audiences a new show. Rollin’s extensive experiences as a standup comic, singer and actor come together to add a unique flavor to the hilarious series of jokes, stories and song parodies that make up the Traveling Medicine Show. The show is by turn, light-hearted, satirical and sweet. Episodes of ‘The View From Greenfield’ are presented live. While these episodes bring to the show some of the laid-back atmosphere that made ‘The View from Greenfield’ so popular, the Medicine Show livens things up considerably with its music and comedy routines.
The Traveling Medicine Show Band is a trio of accomplished musicians featuring Rollin on acoustic guitar, electric guitar and harmonica, along with bassist John Gosselin and acoustic guitarist Brett Penner. The group’s spot-on three part vocal harmonies and syncopated guitar rhythms make their performances as musically pleasing as they are funny.
The trio performs a mix of original songs, cover tunes and parodies of well known songs that range from folk to country to alternative to jazz. Songs from such diverse artists as Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Buffet, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Paul Simon and of course Randy Van Warmer are interspersed with original songs and comedy. Rollin’s story-telling abilities and interaction with the audience might best be described as “Stuart Mclean meets Will Rogers”.
The Traveling Medicine Show is available for a wide variety of events. The group is capable of playing full concerts of 90 minutes or more, with or without intermission, but is equally at home with shorter shows of 30 or 60 minutes. Also available is the option of having Rollin do a forty-five minute one-man standup comedy show, and then come back with a forty-five minute show with the band. In entertainment jargon that’s known as “two shows for the price of one”.
The Traveling Medicine Show can provide custom printed posters to promoters in advance of events to help organizers advertise and sell tickets.

Beggar's Brawl
Celtic, Contemporary Folk
Beggar's Brawl is a group of Winnipeg musicians who play a mixture of traditional Celtic and contemporary folk music. A love for Irish music prompted the formation of the band in the summer of 2000, and since then, we have enjoyed increasing popularity in and around Winnipeg. With a blend of instrumental tunes, folk songs and a large repertoire of sing-along favorites, Beggar's Brawl provides a wide range of entertainment for nearly any audience.
The Musicians
Darrell English
Lead singer, pennywhistles, fifes and bodhran, Originally a concert and military band musician, playing first clarinet and then baritone saxophone. He only started playing Irish music in the late 80's but immediately felt in the music a link to his heritage. He first began performing as a member of Borealis, and then as part of the heritage ensemble Simpson's Folly. His album credits include Rick Yarish's "Irish Raven" and Simpson's Folly recordings "Fourteen Miles from Kildonan" and "Redcoats and Bluejackets". Darrell's powerful vocals and distinct whistle style have made him a fixture of the Winnipeg Irish music scene for well over a decade.
Mike Symak
Guitarist and singer, Mike began playing guitar at the age of twelve and was greatly influenced by the likes of Eagles and John Denver, as well as Bluegrass and Classical guitar. Mike spent some time as a drummers for the Rivers and District Pipe Band, and played guitar at St. Charles Church for 12 years. When his daughters began Irish dancing, Mike got involved in the Irish Association of Manitoba, where he immediately fell in love with the music. His guitar style is rich and diverse from solid rhythm to complex picking. He especially enjoys playing for dancers and for ceilis, and is also a gifted mandolin player.
Miriam Neuman
When it comes to Irish music, you've got to have a fiddle in the band, and boy, have we got a fiddle! Miriam is a classically trained violinist who has played since childhood. A keen interest in old time Canadian, Appalachian and traditional Irish music has led her to study Irish music by haunting home and sessions at the Irish Association. Before joining Beggar's Brawl, Miriam played with the country/Celtic band "Southwinds" and Appalachian group "Little Whiskey". She has taken lessons with Lisa Gutkin, James Kelly, Liz Carroll and Sheila Garry of the Kilfenora Ceili Band, and voice lessons with Diane Berger.
D'Arcy Stearns
If there's one word to describe D'Arcy, it would be Diverse. This young musician plays banjo, mandolin, didgeridoo and percussion. You can also see him with his own band Goblins.
Carolyn Cameron
Wistful melodies and charming Scots traditional in both English and Gaelic are Carolyn's forte. She has grown up singing traditional music in English and Gaelic, and has won in several classes of the Mod Ontario competition. She appeared in the documentary "The Blood is Strong" and has performed in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and B.C. including two performances at the Pan Am games. Well known for her work with the Highland Gathering and an active member of the Scottish community, Carolyn rounds out the group bringing a fuller, richer tone to every tune.
Dereck Siteman
Country greats tribute
Dereck Siteman has been performing for the last 25 years in Stage Shows, Banquet halls, Theaters and Private Functions. He was the lead singer in several Rock and Roll and Country Bands and also performed a tribute to Elvis for about 5 years, which started to give him popularity. At that time Dereck began doing Radio and TV commercials in Winnipeg Manitoba. The TV commercials were written by Dereck and are still being aired today by Abalon at various times.
The past 15 years Dereck has been displaying his vocal talent by performing a fabulous tribute to the memory of the late great Roy Orbison in Legend Show across Canada. Adam Kirk
Comedy, Acoustic, Pop, Rock
Adam Kirk is a storyteller of many talents, an artist, entertainer, singer and songwriter. With a blue bird guitar that he painted himself which looks as “sparkly” as it sounds, Adam sings the songs he writes, as well as classic crowd pleasers he learned from the internet, plus some parodies of hit tunes with original lyrics that he thinks are hilarious. From the Led Zeppelin inspired epic power ballad “Stairway to Sasquatch” and Buffy Sainte-Marie meets a galaxy far, far away in “Universal Stormtrooper” to Bon Jovi’s prehistoric slow jam “You Want to Make a Dinosaur” and more which I won’t spoil by mentioning here. With an emphasis on comedy, in case you had not figured that out by now, and a flair for the dramatic, Kirk uses giant interactive puppets in his performances such a life size T-Rex (Just the head. Don’t get too excited!) and a larger than life octopus puppet that takes nine people to bring to life. That’s right, folks. Audience participation is a big part of an Adam Kirk show, which is designed to be enjoyable for all ages. Tiptoeing the tightrope of being equally suitable for kids as well as adults, but no actual tight rope walking… yet. Often seen performing in medieval armor because it makes him feel powerful (& safe from tomatoes. Just in case.), and wearing prosthetic pointy ears because he is a huge fantasy nerd with an affinity for elven culture, but the best part is: Adam Kirk is not only a rising parody pop-rock star; he is also one of Canada’s most in demand caricature artists, and can be booked after the show to sit down with audience members face to face one on one to draw everybody. What? Are you serious? Yes. I am being very serious right now. This performer is also a caricaturist and has made it his mission to blow the minds and open the hearts, third eyes and crown chakras of people everywhere. Book Adam Kirk to perform and draw at your next event with Amazing Entertainment.

Bieber Fever - Tribute to Justin Bieber
It was only a matter of time before the very young and multi-talented Justin Bieber would take over the pop-R&B world. Discovered on the internet at age 12—thanks to some home videos posted on You Tube—he quickly wound up the protégé to R&B superstar Usher, and has since become a huge celebrity in his own right, beating out his mentor for ‘Artist of the Year’ at the 2010 American Music Awards. Justin’s debut release, My World—which includes the mega-hit One Time—was certified platinum in the United States, making him the first artist to have seven songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100. His first full studio release, My World 2.0, has since received similar success, debuting at number one and within the top ten of several countries—as well as being certified platinum in the United States. His worldwide top-ten single, Baby is his biggest hit to date. Justin Bieber possesses a natural musicality and stage presence that is reminiscent of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson in their heyday. It’s no wonder that ‘Bieber Fever’ provokes the same tears of joy and excited screams that Justin’s predecessors received.

The band has also earned the distinction of producing two platinum-certified singles, ‘Naturally’ and ‘Who Says’. There’s no denying the graceful girl-next-door from Texas is an accomplished actress, but it seems she was destined for a successful career in music from day one. Gomez was named after the Mexican music star ‘Selena’, and continues to carry on the Tejano icon’s legacy, by inspiring young women around the world with her luminescent beauty and stage presence.

Her sophomore album, Teenage Dream, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and has seen chart-topping success with the hits California Gurls, Teenage Dream and Firework. Bad Romance - Tribute to Lady Gaga
It’s been a while since a new pop artist has made her way in the music industry the old-fashioned/grass roots way by paying her dues with seedy club gigs and self-promotion. This is one rising pop star who hasn’t been plucked from a model casting call, born into a famous family, won a reality TV singing contest, or emerged from a teen cable TV sitcom. “I did this the way you are supposed to. I played every club in New York City and I bombed in every club and then killed it in every club and I found myself as an artist. I learned how to survive as an artist, get real, and how to fail and then figure out who I was as singer and performer. And, I worked hard.”

Song List:
Good Girl Gone Bad - Tribute to Rihanna
Pop diva Rihanna is one of the hottest singers to captivate the music scene in recent years; her powerhouse vocals and provocative performances are continually enchanting audiences around the globe. The singer’s unique musical style combines a variety of genres (R&B, dancehall and reggae) with undeniably catchy pop hooks that often catapult her name to the top of the charts.
Rihanna was born on the Caribbean island of Barbados and began singing at age 7. By age 14, she and two of her classmates had formed an all-girl group exhibiting a similar look and sound to the band Destiny’s Child. However, Rihanna, like Beyoncé Knowles before her, possessed a star power that outshone her bandmates, and the blossoming performer was eventually signed as a solo artist to the Def Jam record label in New York.
Her debut album, Music of the Sun, pays homage to Rihanna’s island heritage. It was released in August 2005 and reached number 10 on the Billboard 200, selling over two million copies worldwide. The album’s lead single, ‘Pon de Replay’, shot to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became 2005’s summer dance club anthem. Since then, Rihanna has released five more albums, showing her versatility as an artist by reinventing her image and sound with every release.
To this chameleon from the Caribbean, variety truly is the spice of life, and she’s forever seeking to chart new waters. It’s no surprise that she was recently named the top selling digital artist of all time, surpassing her idol—and the Queen of reinvention—Madonna. And yet amidst all of her successes, Rihanna remains grounded and eternally committed to referencing her beloved roots.

Britney...One More Time - A tribute to Britney Spears
Following in the fancy footsteps of her childhood idols—Madonna and Janet Jackson—singer, dancer and megastar Britney Spears has positioned herself as the Princess of Pop for Generation Next. The best selling female artist of the 2000s, she has sold 100 million records worldwide and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Britney began her journey to pop stardom at the tender age 3, in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana. Doting ‘stage mom’ Lynn Spears enrolled a young Britney in dance lessons initially, and by age 5, the budding performer was singing in—and winning—many state-level talent competitions. The tiny tot with the mature vocal range went on to compete on the televised talent show ‘Star Search’ and her triple threat abilities took centre stage on the revived 'Mickey Mouse Club' variety show.
But it wasn’t until Britney turned 17 that she became a household name, upon the release of her debut album, ‘Baby One More Time’. During a phase when overzealous pop groups like Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys dominated the charts, Britney’s innocent yet independent spirit was a breath of fresh air—and reminiscent of her idols in their younger days. Baby One More Time’s first single and title track sold 500,000 copies on its first day and the album became the best-selling album ever released by a teenager.
Over a decade later, Britney Spears is still a young woman, but has established herself as an industry veteran, showing considerable strength while riding the roller coaster of fame. She holds the longest time span of number ones on the Mainstream Top 40 chart (over 12 years) and her seventh studio album, ‘Femme Fatale’, was released in March 2011 to rave critical reviews. No longer the little girl chasing a big dream, she has been handed the torch by her iconic predecessors and continues the legacy by inspiring a new crop of pop divas—including the likes of Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga.

Mariachi De La Noche
Mariachi Band
On May 5th, 1917 Mariachi De La Noche (Mariachi Of The Night) performed their final concert in a secret location in the town of Cocula in the province of Jalisco, Mexico. Having completed their mission of bringing joy, peace and a little heat to the masses and reviving the custom of celebrating every occasion with live music they simply disappeared. Trumpeter Carlos The Unspoken, who had never uttered a word on stage throughout their entire career, was quoted as saying "Job done".
On May 4th, 2017, on the eve of Cinco De Mayo, in the Eglissa Santa Del Gordoni, during the annual Wang Of The Dang Doodle Festival, the sound of a trumpet, a ukulele and two guitars suddenly echoed in the chapel as mariachi aficionados gasped in disbelief. What appeared to be the members of the legendary Mariachi De La Noche were strolling into the room to the sensual sound of "The Lonely Bull" performed exactly as it had been a century before. At the end of the performance, Carlos The Unspoken simply said, "Guess not".
And now, Mariachi De La Noche wants to once again take up it's mission to bring joy, peace and a little heat to any event you have in mind. With a repertoire of "salsified" hits from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's as well as numerous traditional mariachi songs, this quartet of veteran musicians and stage performers will bring out the Latin passion in your guests and turn your fun night into a fiesta with their infectious beats and soaring vocal harmonies. Their costumes are also pretty cool.
Mariachi De La Noche consists of Pablo The Contumacious Poet, Fernando Of The Flowing Hair, Carlos The Unspoken and Caesar "Che" Muchacho.
Expectations Were Exceeded
"We booked Mariachi De La Noche as entertainment for our Fiesta themed gala and couldn't be happier that we did! From their roaming set, to a staged performance, they were able to add a real Mexican flair to the evening that didn't go unnoticed by our 200+ guests. From the phone call prior to the event, to their performance evening of, and the follow up call to ensure we were happy with the performance, our expectations were exceeded! I have no doubt that their performance contributed to the $36,000 we were able to raise in the evening to support local health care. Thanks again senors!"

Marco Castillo
latin guitarist
Winnipeg, the multicultural capital of Canada is very lucky to have such an amazing artist like Marco Castillo to represent the vast and complex culture of Brazil. Born in the Capital Samba, Rio de Janeiro, he was raised in a musical family and that's evident in his musical knowledge. Latin Samba-Jazz Funk probably best describes Marco's music. Blending the unique traditional rhythms and contemporary sounds of Brazil with lush jazz-voicings and epidemic grooves, Marco has been impressing international audiences around the globe. Castillo made Canada his home in 2006 and Brazil wept – for she had lost one of her beloved musicians. Following in his father’s footsteps, a man who recorded tons of albums (including with Nat King Cole) and toured the world with "Trio Irakitan", Marco’s skills were honed at the feet of the best. Castillo’s extensive musical and rhythmic expertise spans from the gentle, warm musical embrace of the romantic Bossa-Nova, rustic and contagious root rhythms of Baião, and the festive, upbeat, exuberant Samba, to the velvety sounds of Smooth Jazz, and alluring, infectious funky grooves. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music at "Estácio de Sá University" in Rio de Janeiro in 1994, he instantly began touring South America with Brazil’s hottest bands.
Since moving to Canada, Marco has been giving back as much as he has been given. His musical influence can be seen everywhere among his peers. Whether it’s his work as a solo artist or his collaborations, not the least of which is his full 8 piece "Brazilian Beats" band which always brings a one of a kind show, Marco is the Latin/World Music ‘go to guy’ and is becoming one of the most sought-out artists in North America. His intelligent treatment of all the rich Brazilian styles on his Canadian debut CD, Brazilian Season, ensured that it topped college radio charts for weeks. Castillo’s much appraised Trip to Brazil, a sumptuous samba compilation awarded World Recording of the Year (2012) in Regina as part of the Western Canadian Music Awards, continues to rocket Marco to the top of the World Music scene in Canada. Marco’s new release Zabelê (World Recording of the year Nominee WCMA 2014) brings ten original eclectic songs in a perfect and diverse mix of uplifting Latin-Jazz and delivers a variety of deluxe textures that will surely bring all listeners to their feet.
His vivacious compositions and passion brought Castillo the opportunity to participate in numerous festivals including the glorified Western Canadian Music Awards. Marco Castillo was a finalist for the 2015 Viña del Mar International Music Festival in Chile. Held annually since 1960, this international song contest is one of the most important music festivals in Latin America, and is broadcasted and seen by over 150,000,000 fans. Castillo’s original song "Forró no Canadá" from his recently released CD Zabelê, was one of six finalists in the Folkloric category of the competition. The Viña del Mar festival took place from February 21 to 27, 2015 in Viña del Mar, Chile.

Home to literally hundreds of different cultures, the music of the Congo has strongly influenced and in turn been influenced by both Afro-Cuban, and Brazilian music as well as the music of surrounding African countries. The sound is characterized by compelling rhythms, melodic interlocking guitar parts with the trademark reverb and long delay, and a particularly appealing vocal line floating on top. The songs are sung in many different languages. The official European language of the Congo is French, and there are four African languages that also have official language status. Corny Rempel
Elvis Impersonator
Growing up as a middle child in a family with six kids was difficult (You do the math). I was born in Winnipeg Manitoba, and spent most of my life in Steinbach Manitoba, where the name Corny is as common as Bill, John, or Dave. I don't think my parents knew what they started when they called me Corny. I watched a lot of TV as a kid and was always fascinated by all the voices and characters and I religiously sang along with every theme song. Music has always been a big part of my life. My siblings and I started a gospel group when I was a teenager. Years later when we all got married and had kids we didn't have time for the group so I started a country band called "Brazen Eagle" which included two of my siblings. Now I'm doing my own thing. I've unleashed the voices and characters in my head and let them put on a show for you (and some people call Multiple Personality a disorder). A big part of my show pays tribute to "The King" Elvis Presley but all his friends like Shrek, Jack Nicholson, and Cher join him. I've had the pleasure of performing all across the Canadian prairies, as far north as Thompson Manitoba and as far south as Mazatlan Mexico. I recently entered the biggest Elvis Competition in the world at the Collingwood Elvis Festival in Ontario and ended up in the top 10 in the "Professional Division - Vegas Years". Hope to see you at the show. I'll be the one in the jump suit and cape... or a strait jacket.

His debut, 'Justified', has been deemed a smashing success, yielding a string of top-10 hits including "Like I Love You," "Cry Me A River," and "Rock Your Body." Propelled by incredible talent, charisma, and sex appeal, Trevor brings Timberlake's persona to every performance with this energetic tribute! Trevor's efforts prove to be 'Justified' not only as a tribute artist, but as a spectacular entertainer in his own right.
Tom Sadge
Neil Diamond Impersonator
Tom Sadge (pronounced Tom Sage) has been a full-time entertainer his entire adult life. He began as a singer with bands and, later, became a popular mobile DJ / vocal impressionist whose repertoire included the voices of Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Tony Bennett and other singing legends. For the past sixteen years Tom has performed from coast to coast, in Europe and in Canada, as a Neil Diamond impersonator and tribute artist.
The celebrity impersonation act germinated in the summer of 1996 when Marion, Tom's wife and business partner of three decades, was inspired by a Legends In Concert booklet. Why not use makeup and costumes as did the impersonators performing on the Las Vegas strip? The transition from local entertainer to a national act as a tribute artist thus began and in November 1997 Tom debuted his Jazz Singer era Neil Diamond.
Since his debut, Tom has entertained at many major venues throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. "Diamondheads" (Neil's top fans) in both the U.S. and Europe have hired him to perform at fan club gatherings, eight consecutive Neil Diamond Chicago Birthday Party celebrations and three Carnival Fan Cruises.
Tom Sadge has met Neil Diamond and his band members on several occasions. Does Neil approve of Tom? During a 2002 concert in State College PA.Neil, spotting Tom in the front row, leaned over the stage and, pointing to Tom, told the crowd of many thousands, "This guy sounds just like me!."
Opening national act credits include Engelbert Humperdinck, comedian Jackie Mason, Kool and the Gang, The Guess Who (featuring Burton Cummings), Bare Naked Ladies, and The Lords (acclaimed German band). Tom Sadge considers superstar Engelbert Humperdinck, who has met with Tom many times, to be a friend. "Enge", like Tom, is a family man who often tours with his wife, sons and/or daughter.
Casinos regularly book Tom Sadge as a solo performer or with his tribute bands. "Tom Sadge As Neil Diamond" has appeared on casino theater marquees from Atlantic City, NJ to Las Vegas, NV. In 2013 Tom performed at Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Pocono Mountains and was also one of the last entertainers booked into Mount Airy Lodge (late 1990s) and the Sands Casino Copa Room in Atlantic City (demolished in 2007). Tom Sadge has entertained twice at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, PA and has performed at Trump casinos, as well.
Production show producers choose Tom as their first choice to portray Neil Diamond: Legends In Concert (CT, MO, NV, NJ, SC), Memories Theatre (TN), Showstoppers Live! (AZ), A Really Big Shew (NJ, WA, NV) and Legends Alive! (CA) are just a few of the large U.S. and Canadian companies who repeatedly hired Tom for extended bookings.
Tom Sadge's 20+ years’ experience as DJ/MC enhances his ability to mesmerize an audience of three or a crowd of 62,000 (Philadelphia's Eagles). He is in demand for state and county fairs, corporate functions, conventions, outdoor concerts, amphitheaters, festivals, fundraisers, charitable events, country clubs and active adult 55+ communities. Guests at weddings, bar mitzvahs, landmark birthday, anniversary and retirement parties always pleased with the special magic Tom brings to celebration.
Dozens of radio and television personalities, as well as print journalists, have interviewed Tom throughout the years. The list includes New York City's popular morning drive DJs Scott Shannon and Todd Pettengill. Tom was interviewed and then sang live from the WPLJ studios above Manhattan's Madison Square Garden. Television credits include The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet (NYC); ABC's The Next Best Thing; Inside Edition and AMC's special, Lookalikes.
The Tom Sadge Show averages 90 minutes, but Tom's been booked for one song or three hours. Tom adjusts his repertoire to suit any special occasion. Clients can book Tom as Neil Diamond and/or enjoy his alter ego (Tony Testosteroni) performing other vocal impressions (see first paragraph). While not a comedian, "Tony's" friendly banter and occasional jokes bring levity to the performance.

Hats Off
Barbershop Quartet
In the summer of 2014, four men came together from the four corners of Winnipeg to see how they sounded as a quartet. Even though they were four individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills, they discovered a natural synergy and were able, from the beginning, to “lock” chords to create a beautiful a capella barbershop sound. That initial excitement spurred them on to build a repertoire of classic and contemporary songs, and now dozens of audiences have found their renderings highly entertaining.
Hats Off is: David Peters (tenor), Victor Olafson (lead), James “Doogie” Kautz (baritone), and Ken Broadfoot (bass), David has been a part of the Manitoba music scene for several years and has sung in a variety of vocal groups. Victor started as lead singer for what he calls a machine-shed band and also played piano, guitar, and trumpet. He has been in three previous quartets and is an Assistant Director of the Winnipeg Golden Chordsmen. “Doogie” has been singing in a variety of groups since he could talk, ranging from pairing up with siblings and cousins, to singing bass in a Bible school travelling chorus, to being a music leader in his church. Ken has always loved singing and listening to music (especially the Beatles) and started barbershopping just a few years ago.
Hats Off would love to sing at your anniversary or birthday party, fund-raiser, group or corporate event, or any other situation calling for a bit of fun and vibrant musical entertainment.
Guylaina
latin jazz vocalist
“A beautiful mix of traditional and pop Brazilian music!”
“Brazilian Vibe” enchants audiences while performing the poetic and vibrant “Samba” and “Bossa Nova” from Brazil.
This rich palette of rhythms and graceful melodies will without a doubt take you to the tropical land of Brazil!
As the lead vocalist, Guylaina’s authentic interpretation consists of a beautiful mix, ranging from the jazzy “Bossa Nova” by renowned composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, to the lively “Samba” by popular singer Aline Calixto. Performed in Portuguese, English and French, the repertoire also includes Brazilian favorites from the accomplished singers and songwriters João Gilberto and Vinicius De Moraes.
Traveling through Europe, Africa and Latin America, Guylaina’s passion for Brazilian music is inspired by her extensive travel and her desire to share the poetic language of these universal grooves.
Introducing the members of “Brazilian Vibe”…
A native of Quebec, Guylaina was raised in a passionate singing family, surrounded by classical music, during her growing years. She started her artistic journey by accompanying herself on guitar. Subsequently, her fascination for “World Music” brought her to experiment with a variety of cultures. Guylaina sought out ways to express herself through French, Spanish and Italian songs until she discovered her passion for Brazilian music.
Guitarist Marcos Martins has recently made Winnipeg his home. He flew to Canada bringing with him his musical culture from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With his charming interpretations, Marcos will captivate your imagination and take you on a trip to his homeland!
Learning from Brazilian masters in New York, Fabio Ragnelli moved from Toronto to share his expertise of “World Rhythms” with Manitoba. Fabio tours and performs all summer throughout Eastern Canada, which keeps him extremely busy.
The trio comprised of Guylaina, Marcos and Fabio is the perfect synergy between Canada and Brazil. “Brazilian Vibe” brings a fresh interpretation of these irresistible rhythms, while simultaneously revitalizing the classics and introducing us to the newest songs from Brazil in three different languages!
Paul Asaro
Jazz / Ragtime Pianist
Paul Asaro is known as one of the finest of a select group of pianists who have mastered the demanding two-handed jazz and ragtime piano styles from the first half of the 20th century. The Stride piano of James P. Johnson, Willie “The Lion” Smith and Fats Waller, the New Orleans styles of Jelly Roll Morton, the ragtime of Scott Joplin and Eubie Blake, stomps, boogie woogie and swing, Asaro plays them all with a fine ear for detail, blending the elements into his own personal style. Indeed, most of Paul’s earliest influences were more recent pianists such as Dick Wellstood, Ralph Sutton and Butch Thompson, musicians who worked within these traditions while at the same time developing their own unique approach.
In a career now spanning two decades, Paul has performed at theaters and clubs worldwide and has appeared at such major venues as the Chicago Jazz Festival, Ravinia, the Toronto Jazz Festival, the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal and the Ascona Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He has performed onstage with such musical legends and luminaries as Leon Redbone, Steve Allen, Marian McPartland, Butch Thompson, Jeff Healy and Vince Giordano. He was the featured pianist in the Obie award winning Broadway production of “Jelly Roll! The Music and the Man”, performing solo and accompanying the show’s creator and star Vernel Bagneris. Asaro also played for the national tour and numerous regional theater productions of “Jelly Roll!” including a run in Philadelphia resulting in a Barrymore Award nomination for best supporting actor. Asaro has had long runs as house pianist aboard the legendary New Orleans steamboat “Delta Queen” and in Chicago with Jim Beebe’s band featuring former Louis Armstrong All-Star Barrett Deems and the legendary tenor man Franz Jackson.
Currently Asaro tours the country as accompanist to Leon Redbone, playing concerts as a duo as well as appearing on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion” and “Mountain Stage” and recording for Leon’s latest studio album. Paul’s piano can be heard on two recent albums by singer and guitarist Loudon Wainwright III including the 2010 Grammy Award winning “Charlie Poole Project”. Recent appearances include solo and two-piano duets with Butch Thompson and Jon Weber for the Twin Cities Jazz Festival’s “Stride Piano Night”, an extended solo tour for Allied Concert Services, and onscreen with Vince Giordano’s band in the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire”. When not on the road Paul holds down the piano chair in the seven piece jazz band “The Fat Babies”, performing weekly at the long established Chicago jazz club The Green Mill and at the Honky Tonk BBQ. The group plays a wide variety of jazz from the 1920s through the 1940s and has released two albums to critical acclaim with their Delmark Records release “Chicago Hot” being named one of the best jazz album releases of 2012 by the Chicago Tribune.

Melissa St Goddard
Fiddle Player
From Portage La Prairie Manitoba, Melissa has been surrounded by music her entire life. Her Uncles, Darren Lavallee, Mark Morrisseau, and cousin JJ Lavallee, are accomplished fiddle players and were a major influence on Melissa. She received her first fiddle at age 13 from her Uncle Armand Jobin and with the help of her sister Demi, she began to teach herself to play .For the next two years Melissa took fiddle lessons from her Uncle Mark Morrisseau, and began to help teach a young group of fiddlers. Now at the age of 24 Melissa is no longer taking lessons from her Uncle but has become a fiddle instructor herself, teaching children in the Prairie Fiddler's group in Portage la Prairie, and Portage's Conservatory of Music. She has had to opportunity to play at several events around Canada including the "Take the Fort" tour across Western Canada, Batoche, Asham Stomper Fest, Metisfest, Keplinfest and several other festivals in Winnipeg.
Ron Krug
Winnipeg's Piano Man
As a musician, Ron Krug has performed with musical theater companies in Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Barbados, Regina and Saskatoon, with choirs in several Canadian and European locations and with solo artists across the continent. His favorite though, is accompanying songs from Broadway shows. As accompanist, musical director and yes, even performer at the Hollow Mug Dinner Theater for more than 20 years, he has certainly had a chance to get inside almost every Broadway musical.
Ron continues a 25-year association with Scottish Country Dance music – having played for classes, workshops, examinations and tours throughout Canada and United States and with three Scottish bands. He has also composed music for specially designed dances. His first professional exposure to this music was to play for an examination conducted by Miss Milligan - the co-founder of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. He says that he has been afraid of playing Scottish music ever since!
The warmest spot in his musical career must be reserved for The Bunch of Grapes - a Winnipeg performing troupe specializing in British Music Hall and War Time music. For more than 20 years this close-knit family of performers has produced recordings, presented full-length stage shows, performed for royalty, filmed award-winning television specials and entertained hundreds of Winnipeg, Ontario and U.S. audiences.
Ron’s standard for musical excellence can easily be traced back to his college years with the University of Saskatchewan Greystone Singers. From that stemmed other rewarding choral affiliations including The Tudor Singers of Montreal. This association established his goals for quality - in working with professionals, amateurs and students - and hopes above all, that everyone enjoys the music they create and share it with others.

GLEN HOBAN
Glen is a multi-instrumentalist and entertainer, tarot reader, photographer, artist, writer and dance-exercise enthusiast living in Winnipeg. In addition to his creative performer activities, Glen also runs a retail business selling Himalayan singing bowls as well as his handmade incense, perfumes and marbled papers.
Winnipeg's "Zamfir"!
If you are so fortunate to live in Winnipeg, you might have already heard Glen play or maybe even have had him play for you.
People the world over love the sound of the pan flute, with its soothing, mystical and spiritual qualities. But few are able to play this ancient instrument because it is so demanding.
Because he doesn't drive, Glen needed something to do while he was walking and waiting for buses. Though the piano is a wonderful instrument, it is also very heavy, and Glen's arms were getting tired pushing his concert grand down the street, so he took up the pan flute to give himself something to do while waiting for buses and walking places.
Glen's first instrument is the piano, and he has a very strong Classical background. Chopin, Beethoven and Brahms are his specialties, but he knows hundreds of pieces by other composers. As he got older, Glen branched out into other styles of music, including Ragtime, Oldies, Folk and Rock.
For many years, Glen dropped into the Winnipeg Art Gallery on Wednesday nights and played concerts on the Baldwin concert grand piano on the first floor. Glen has also played at a number of functions and events over the years. As a member of the "Sonica" performing group, Glen (playing gongs, singing bowls and bain-suri) was part of a "Sound Temple" event in the Pool of the Black Star at the Legislature, which drew close to 800 people.
Glen has been reading cards professionally since 1983 when he got his start as a Tarot reader at the old Chocolate Shoppe on Portage Avenue. Glen enjoys both the light-hearted 'fun' aspect of card readings as well as exploring the more mystical and esoteric sides. He brings a knowledge of psychology, history, art, literature and other subjects to his readings. Most recently, Glen has been providing readings virtually on the Facebook group 'Socially Distant Fest' as well as private personal readings.
Glen has worked as a professional musician for many years, and his top Classical piano video on YouTube has over 10 million views. Glen also plays the pan flute and has been at the Romanian Pavilion in Folklorama in recent years. Pan flutes can be played in all weather, and if you have ever seen someone walking the streets of Winnipeg playing a pan flute, that has most likely been Glen. ;-)
